Galliani Highlights Inter Milan's Major Advantage in Player Recruitment: Winter Window Striker Challenge

However, another interview with a former AC Milan figure also deserves attention: Adriano Galliani, the former AC Milan executive and current head of Monza. Galliani addressed the situation, saying, "Colpani's case is different from Augusto's. He has a five-year contract with Monza, so there is nothing to discuss until next June or beyond. Augusto wanted to join the Brazilian national team, and Inter's offer was the right move for him. Despite his impressive season with us, Brazil didn't consider him, but once he joined Inter and played a few games, he was called up."

Augusto, who holds dual Brazilian-Italian citizenship, was long courted by Italy's national team manager Roberto Mancini and the Italian Football Federation. However, his dream was always to play for Brazil. Last season, Augusto had an outstanding campaign with Monza, scoring six goals and providing five assists. Despite the competition for his services, Brazil never considered a preemptive call-up to block Italy's interest. This situation led Augusto to reevaluate his options earlier this year. Although he continued to await a call from Brazil, he did not entirely rule out playing for Italy. Italian media described his attitude as one of determination to join a big club and make a final push for his Brazilian dream. If that failed, he would consider other options.

Augusto's strong desire to join a bigger club made Monza realize they could not keep him. Ultimately, he joined Inter Milan on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option triggered by Inter's qualification for European competitions. The deal was structured to include a loan fee and a €7.5 million purchase clause, payable in installments. Augusto's personal ambition and willingness to join Inter facilitated a reasonably priced transfer. Since joining Inter, Augusto has not secured a guaranteed starting position, and his stats have not matched last season's performance, but he quickly earned a call-up to the Brazilian national team. He achieved his goal, with Inter helping him realize his dream. Augusto started in Brazil's matches against Uruguay and Argentina, expressing his excitement and sleepless nights before the games.
