Yesterday, Inter’s headquarters on Liberty Street saw a flurry of activity, with four major figures visiting: Spezia's transfer manager Morgan De Sanctis, Venezia's sporting director Filippo Antonello, a representative from Palermo, and well-known agent Vincenzo Fioravanti. The reasons for their visits were soon unveiled by transfer market experts.

Spezia's Interest in Francesco Pio Esposito

Spezia is keen on extending the loan of Inter Milan’s forward Francesco Pio Esposito, the youngest of the Esposito brothers. Last season, he played a crucial role in Spezia's squad, making 38 appearances, including 17 starts, and scoring three goals, helping the team avoid relegation. Other mid-to-lower table Serie A teams are also interested in Esposito.

Venezia's Reinforcement Plans

Having secured promotion to Serie A through the playoffs, Venezia needs to strengthen their squad but lacks the financial resources to sign big-name players. Antonello’s visit aimed to acquire some of Inter’s talents. Although he denied interest in Inter's Joaquin Correa and Valentin Carboni, local media reports suggest Venezia has an eye on Sebastiano Esposito, Gaetano Oristanio, and Filip Stankovic, with a strong interest in Martin Satriano.

Palermo's Bid for Sebastiano Esposito

Palermo’s representative also visited Inter’s headquarters. According to sources from Sicily, Palermo is looking to sign Sebastiano Esposito. Last season, Esposito was on loan at Sampdoria, making 22 appearances, scoring six goals, and providing four assists while earning three penalties. Currently, Esposito is participating in the 2024 Maurice Revello Tournament in France, where he wears the number 10 shirt for Italy’s U21 team. He has recorded assists against Japan and Panama.

Agent Vincenzo Fioravanti's Wide Network

Renowned agent Vincenzo Fioravanti, from BestFoot agency, also paid a visit. Fioravanti has extensive collaborations with teams across Italy, France, and Spain, including Palermo, Racing Santander, Ascoli, Girona, Rayo Vallecano, and Celta Vigo. His visit aimed to negotiate potential transfers for some of Inter’s fringe players.

Financial Constraints and Transfer Market Reactions

The presence of these key figures at Inter’s headquarters can be attributed to the club’s financial struggles. Last season, Inter Milan expected to generate €52 million from player sales and loans. However, this plan has hit several snags. Inter had loaned out players with buy-out clauses totaling €52 million, including Correa (€13 million), Agoumé (€8 million), Radu (€8 million), Vanheusden (€7 million), Sebastiano Esposito (€7 million), Filip Stankovic (€5 million), and Gaetano Oristanio (€4 million).

These funds were intended to support Inter’s summer transfer operations. However, there is a real possibility that none of these buy-out options will be exercised. Correa’s return is already confirmed, and there are other examples of potential buy-out failures.

Oristanio, on loan at Cagliari, had an impressive season with 25 Serie A appearances, two goals, and one assist. Despite Cagliari's satisfaction with his performance and their interest in making the transfer permanent, they are negotiating a discount on the €4 million buy-out fee. Similarly, Sampdoria is unwilling to activate the €5 million buy-out clause for goalkeeper Filip Stankovic, preferring another loan year. However, Inter must consider finding a new club for Stankovic if their primary goalkeeper, Emil Audero, returns to Inter, complicating Stankovic’s prospects at Sampdoria.

Given these circumstances, it is no surprise that Inter’s headquarters has been bustling with visits from representatives of various smaller clubs. Inter is actively working to sell or loan out players like Correa, Sebastiano Esposito, and Agoumé to generate funds. The club hopes to secure €20-30 million from these transactions to support their transfer market activities.

The Transfer Market's Future

Despite the financial challenges, Inter Milan is pushing forward with potential sales and loan deals. The club is confident in raising the necessary funds to facilitate significant acquisitions. With the recent visits from key figures and ongoing negotiations, Inter is laying the groundwork for a busy and potentially fruitful transfer window. Fans and analysts will be watching closely to see how these developments unfold and impact Inter’s squad for the upcoming season.
